BENTLEY THOMAS

LaGrange -- Bentley Thomas, 63, went to be with the Lord Monday at his home.

A graveside service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery.

Mr. Thomas was born Oct. 8, 1942, in Lenoir County to the late Charlie and Fleter Stanley Thomas.

He worked with E&R Electric for the past 20 years and had a great love of hunting, fishing and helping his fellow man. Mr. Thomas was a member of Institute United Methodist Church and attended Sunday evening services at Bethel Free Will Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Phyllis Johnson Thomas; five children, Kay Robinson and husband, Donald, Bentley Thomas Jr., Ben Thomas and wife, Melissa, and Annette Chapman and husband, Curtis, of Kinston and Richard Thomas of Durham; four brothers, Andrew Thomas and McKinley Thomas of Kinston, Leo Thomas of Goldsboro and Danny Thomas of Grenada Hills, Calif.; two sisters, Alice Traina of Houston, Texas, and Linda Stanley of La Grange; seven grandchildren, Tabitha Rouse, Don Robinson, Joshua Robinson, Kacey Robinson, Kayla Graham, Kristen Graham and Lisa Chapman; two great-grandchildren, Shane West and Ivey West.

Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Harris and Mary Buell.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Rouse Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the home.

Arrangements are being handled by Rouse Funeral Home of LaGrange.
