JIM LIMBAUGH

Feb. 14, 1935 - Sept. 18, 2006

James "Jim" Lee Limbaugh Sr., 71, of 103 Stoney Run Dr., Goldsboro, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. this evening at Seymour Funeral Home in Goldsboro. Dr. Don Sauls and Pastor Barry Stallings will officiate the funeral services at 4 p.m. tomorrow at Seymour Funeral Home and will be followed by graveside services at Pikeville Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends at other times at the home of daughter, Lib, and son-in-law J.E. Garner, 119 Bett Dr., Goldsboro.

Jim was born in Ragland, Alabama to the late Leo and Ophelia Limbaugh. Jim was retired as a staff sergeant from the United States Air Force after serving 17 years and a tour in Vietnam. During his career in the USAF, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Previously, he served four years in the United States Marine Corp. and a tour in Korea. Jim's second career of transportation lasted twenty years, where as a tireless worker, he was employed by Barnes Trucking, T.A. Taylor, and Billings before retiring in 1997. Jim was an avid fan of football, baseball, and NASCAR. Upon retirement, Jim spent most mornings with his friends drinking coffee and sharing stories. Jim was a great friend and will be greatly missed.

His love and support of friends was only surpassed by his devotion and commitment to family. Jim was a devoted husband to his wife of forty-six years, Betty Merritt Limbaugh, and a supportive father to Lib, Jimmy, and Michael. Jim's life was blessed with two special grandchildren, Derek and Kristin. Jim was a constant spectator at any event that involved his grandchildren and was active in supporting their interests and he seemed to be his happiest when his family was around him. Jim was a great example of commitment to providing and supporting family and friends. Jim and his family attended Pikeville Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Betty Merritt Limbaugh of the home, a daughter Elizabeth, and her husband J.E. Garner of Goldsboro, two sons, James Lee Limbaugh, Jr. of Goldsboro, and Michael Lynn Limbaugh and his wife, Betty Jean Limbaugh of Goldsboro, and grandchildren, Derek and Kristin Limbaugh; sisters, Doris Losch of Mobile, Alabama, and Jeanette Limbaugh of Birmingham, Ala.; brother-in-law, Buddy Merritt, and wife, LuGene of Goldsboro; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Carolyn and Zeke Cox of Goldsboro.

Jim was preceded in death by his mother and father, Leo and Ophelia Limbaugh and brother, Wayne Limbaugh.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the building fund at Pikeville PFWB Church.

The family is being served by Seymour Funeral Home of Goldsboro.
