Timothy "Tim" Gregory, 48, 106 E. Westwood Dr., went to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

A homegoing service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory of Goldsboro with Pastor Gerald Hollamon and the Rev. Charles Overton officiating. Burial will be at Wayne Memorial Park.

Tim was born in Wayne County Sept. 6, 1958, to George Gregory of Goldsboro and the late Edna Overton Stiffler. He was a 1976 graduate of Goldsboro High School and was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps.

He was employed with Howell Funeral Home and Crematory of Goldsboro for the past six years and Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home of Fremont where he was a certified crematory operator technician. He was also employed as a correctional office with the North Carolina Department of Neuse Corrections for the past seven years where he served on the PERT team.

Tim was an umpire and also worked with Coach Elvin James of Goldsboro High School helping him coach football. He loved sports and was true to his high school.

Tim was a past volunteer with Rosewood Fire Department and was a former member of Liberty Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was a devoted, compassionate and loving person who had a heart full of love and will be greatly missed by all of those who knew him.

Tim was a devoted husband and father to his loving wife, Pamela Gregory, and two sons, Christopher Gregory and fiancee, Kristina Mills, of Goldsboro and Ricky Gregory of the home; three sisters, Phyllis Godwin and husband, Brent, of Princeton, Kay Waters and husband, Linwood, of Grantham and Beverly Fenech and husband, Bryan, of Goldsboro; five brothers, Ronnie Gregory and wife, Mary, of Burlington, Jackie Gregory of Goldsboro, Donald Gregory and wife, Belinda, of Calypso, Charlie Gregory and wife, Sandy, of Fremont and Steve Gregory of Goldsboro; his mother and father-in-law, Pat and Donnie Littleton of Goldsboro and Ina and James Garnett of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; three brothers-in-law, James Garnett and wife, Sharon, of Montana, Chet Garnett and wife, Rita, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Michael Garnett and fiancee, Wendy Joyner, of Clayton; two stepbrothers-in-law, Gary H. Littleton and wife, Virginia, of Virginia Beach, and Dannie Littleton and wife, Joanne, of Goldsboro; many close friends including Stephen and Heather Howell; and nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved.

Tim was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Edna Overton Stiffler and Sam Stiffler.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory of Goldsboro. At other times, they will be at his residence.
