WILBERT J. HERRING

Wilbert Joseph Herring, 78, of 248 Jones Turner Road, Mount Olive, died early Tuesday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

He had served in the U. S. Army and was a retired building contractor. He was a member of the Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Tyndall's Funeral Home with Nolan Wiggins officiating. Burial will take place in Wayne Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 noon until funeral time on Wednesday, and at other times at the residence.

Mr. Herring is survived by his wife, Jean Goodman Herring; a daughter, Debbie H. Outlaw and husband, Tim of Calypso; two sons, Emmett Howard Herring and wife, Peggy of Florence, S.C., and Joe Herring of Mount Olive; a sister, Mamie Herring Nix and husband, Jay of Mount Olive; five grandchildren, Tara Miyasaky of Camden, S.C., Jennifer Elias and Joey Dorriety, both of Greenville, N.C., Jamie Brock and Casey Brock, both of Calypso; and three great-grandchildren, Sid Miyasaky, Haylee Miyasaky and Justin Elias.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Howard Herring and Pearl Baker Herring; a grandson, Scott Herring; two brothers, Oscar Herring and Earl Herring; and two sisters, Lillian Herring Rouse and Louise Herring Potter.
