Jesse Roland Fields, 74, of 932 Friendly Drive, died Friday at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Samuel Woodard and Irene Mitchell Fields. A member of New Life Baptist Church, he was retired with the Cherry/O'Berry Police Department and Wayne Community College Security.
Funeral services are today at 7 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Rick Mondale officiating. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Wayne Memorial Park.
Mr. Fields is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Sandi Fields of Clewiston, Fla.; his daughter, Deborah Fields-Quinn of Auburn, Mass.; his brother and sisters-in-law, George and Jean Fields of Tampa, Fla., and Jane Fields of Goldsboro; and two grandchildren, Meghan Fields and Ash-Lee Fields Quinn.
Family members will greet friends Monday evening following the services at the funeral home.
Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.
