HILDA RANDOLPH
Nov. 24, 1931- Sept. 6, 2006
Hilda Randolph, 75, born to the late Archie Barfield and Retha Simmons Gratham, died Friday.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, brother, nephew and son.
Mrs. Randolph was educated in the Wayne County Public School system, and later furthered her education, graduating from the Dixie Hospital School of Nursing in Hampton, Va. She was employed as a nurse for more than 25 years at Whtaker Memorial Hospital in Newport News, Va., and later ran her own daycare, along with her husband, James, for 15 years.
She was a member of Wesley Grove United Church of Christ for many years.
Mrs. Randolph was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband, James Randolph of 31 years; children, Elaine Wiggins, Wanda Eley, Melvin Paul and Jeffrey Ward, all of Hampton, Va., and Wanda Brown of Caledonia Miss.
The family received friends Sunday at Cooke Brother's Funeral Chapel in Newport News, Va. The service will be held at noon today at Wesley Grove United Church of Christ at 2308 Roanoke Ave. in Newport News, Va. Internment will be Tuesday in Dudley in the First Congregational U.C.C. Church Cemetery in Dudley.
