BERNEDYNE JONES

March 12, 1923 -- Sept. 1, 2006

Bernedyne (Dean) Smith Jones, 83, of 776 Luby Smith Road, Princeton, died Friday afternoon. She was born to the late Luby Custon and Lula Craft Smith. She was the widow of Raymond Clayton Jones. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by brothers, Ronald and David (Sonny) Smith; sisters, Doris Sanderson and Hilda Howell. Mrs. Jones was a member of the Princeton Baptist Church, where she was a past Winsome Sunday School Class Teacher, and for over 25 years she was the Princeton Baptist Church Librarian. In past years she was active in the Wayne County Home Extension Club. Mrs. Jones had served as Librarian for Effie Green Elementary School and Veena Wilburn Elementary School, both in Raleigh. In the past Mrs. Jones was a Charter member of Trinity Baptist Church in Raleigh. Her great grandsons, Andrew and Dylan, brought great joy to her life. The Funeral Service will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Monday, September 4 at the Princeton Baptist Church with the Rev. Dwayne Batten officiating. Burial will follow in the Princeton Cemetery.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald C & Melody Jones of Charleston, W. Va., granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Deane and Derek Forsythe of Princeton; great grandsons, Andrew Clayton Forsythe and Dylan Ray Forsythe; sister and brother-in-law, Judy & George Parrish of Raleigh.

Although flowers are welcome, the family requests donation of a children's book be given to the Princeton Baptist Church Library or Wayne County Public Library.

The family will receive friends from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the fellowship hall at Princeton Baptist Church.
