Jan. 19, 1918 -- Aug. 30, 2006

Genevieve Ruth Collins Foreman, 88, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, peacefully passed away in her sleep at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Mount Olive on Wednesday.

Mrs. Fore-man was born in Nor-folk, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar David Foreman Sr. in 1994, and her parents, Jefferson Kilby Collins and Cornelia Edwards Collins. She and her family resided in the Panama Canal Zone from 1941 - 1951, returning to the states and making their home in Washington D.C. and Alexandria, Va. Before moving to Goldsboro, she was secretary to the director of nursing at both Walter Reed Army Hospital and the Washington Hospital Center in Washington D.C.

Mrs. Foreman was a member of Goldsboro Friends Meeting where she served as pianist. She was a volunteer at Wayne Memorial Hospital and recipient of numerous awards for her hours of service. Mrs. Foreman proudly wore her 15,000 hour pin. She always spoke of her years of service at the hospital as the happiest in her life.

A service to celebrate her life will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with David Brindle officiating. Interment will follow the service at 2 p.m. at the Community Cemetery in Belhaven.

She is survived by her daughter, Gertrude F. Alexander of St. Augustine, Fla.; two sons, E. David Foreman Jr. and wife, Rosemary of Sunset Beach, and Robert W. Foreman and wife, Joan of Naples, Fla. and Ocean City, Md.; her grandsons, E. David Foreman III, Mark F. Alexander, Glenn R. Alexander; three granddaughters, Sheryl F. Olecheck, Kayleen A. Strother, and Major Carolyn A. Wolfer (USAF); 13 great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, Steven and Michael Strother; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to her friends and caregivers, Marjorie Wells and Judy Boyd. To her church family, Goldsboro Friends Meeting and to Dr. Hervy Kornegay, Sr., the nurses and staff of SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation.

The family will greet friends Tuesday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home, 1300 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
