LAGRANGE -- Mamie Elaine Hughes, 62, 6214 Paul's Path Road, died Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Arlene Wade officiating. Interment will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery.

She was born in Sampson County to the late Jimmie and Christine Hughes. She had a great love of cooking and family.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Turner; a brother, Jesse Hughes; and two sisters, Maggie Whaley and Ernestine Hughes.

She is survived by a daughter, Connie Johnson, and husband, Steve, of Seven Springs; three grandchildren, Steven Johnson Jr., Crystal Johnson and Amber Turner; a great-grandchild, Christian Johnson; three brothers, Jimmie A. Hughes of Snow Hill, Earl Hughes and wife, Opel, of Dudley and David Hughes and wife, Mary, of Kinston; special friend and companion, Rayburn Wade of Goldsboro; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday following the service. At other times they will be at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Johnson, 816 Camp Jubilee Road, Seven Springs, and Rayburn Wade, 2594 U.S. 13 north, Goldsboro.

Arrangements are being handled by Rouse Funeral Home.
