Bessie Lee Kornegay, 87, died Saturday morning at Britthaven of Goldsboro.

Funeral services will be held on Monday evening at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro. The Rev. Thomas Harper will officiate. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Elmore Cemetery.

Mrs. Kornegay was born in Duplin County to the late Major and Nora Hinson. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Goldsboro.

She is survived by three sons, Thomas Kornegay of Illinois, Frank Kornegay and his wife, Willa, of Goldsboro and Billy Kornegay and his wife, Marsha, of Goldsboro; six grandchildren, Rachel, Jeffrey, Amanda, Katie, Elizabeth and Ray; two great-grandchildren; and one nephew, Gordon Hinson Jr. of Mount Olive.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kornegay was preceded in death by her husband, Jack E. Kornegay; and one brother, Gordon Hinson.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening following the funeral service at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Willa Kornegay, 112 Roselanding Drive in Goldsboro.

Although flowers are welcome, memorial contributions may be directed to Home Health and Hospice (3HC), 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.
