Bessie Jane Gregory Holmes, 77, long-time resident of West Station St., Mount Olive, died Wednesday at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.

Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, with Pastor Chad Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive.

The youngest of 10 children born to the late William Henry and Eva Holmes Gregory, she is survived by two sons, Robert "Bob" Holmes and wife, Carolyn, of Grantham, and Kenneth Holmes and wife, Antonetta, of Mount Olive; three daughters, Ellen H. Dearman and husband, Tommy, and Shirley H. Jones and husband, Clay, all of Mount Olive, and Sharon H. Roberts and husband, Jeff of LaGrange; a brother, George Gregory of Goldsboro; 11 grandchildren and three great-granddaughters.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Holmes was preceded in death by her husband, James Earl Holmes; a daughter, Lois H. Mc Cullen; two sisters, Elizabeth G. Weaver and Betty G. Herritt; and six brothers, Lonnie, James, John, Bill, Major, and Fletcher Gregory.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 7 until 9, and other times at the Tommy Dearman residence at 104 Fields Drive, Mount Olive, and at the Bob Holmes residence at 3000 U.S. Hwy. South.
