BETTY J. WEEKS

MOUNT OLIVE -- Betty Jean Jones Weeks, 70, of 1188 Country Club Road, died Monday afternoon at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home. The Rev. Steven Wicks will officiate. Visitation with the family will follow the service. At other times, the family will be at the residence.

Committal and burial will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Wayne Memorial Park near Goldsboro.

Mrs. Weeks was the daughter of the late Noah Jonas Jones and Frankie Napier Jones. She was a member of the Mount Olive Presbyterian Church and the Mount Olive Lions Club and was widely known for her wedding cakes and other delicacies. She also enjoyed art and painting.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Maylon M. Weeks of the home; three sons, Carlton Weeks and his wife, Carol, of Mount Olive, Eddie Weeks and his wife, Kim, of Mount Olive, and Terry Weeks of Mount Olive; a brother, Noah W. Jones of Warsaw; three sisters, Geraldine J. Wray of Warsaw, Lovine J. "Lucy" Goodman of Greensboro and Josephine J. "Jo" Summerlin of Goldsboro; seven grandchildren, Scott Weeks of Florida, Chad Weeks of Raleigh, Jay Hill of Erwin, Renee Walden of Pikeville, Stephanie Weeks of Mount Olive, Allan Weeks of Grantham, and Melisa Weeks of Mount Olive; and four great-grandchildren, Matthew Weeks, Kayla Weeks, Nathan Hill, and Taylor Walden.

An infant sister, Virginia Gladys Jones, preceded her in death.
