JANICE J. BARROW

Dec. 6, 1963-Aug. 11, 2006

SNOW HILL -- Janice Jones Barrow, age 42, went to her eternal home in Heaven on Friday, August 11, 2006.

Janice was a devoted wife and mother whose heart and life centered around God first, and then her family. She faithfully attended practices, ball games, school field trips, programs or any function that involved her children. Janice loved serving the Lord by working with children. Her heart's desire was fulfilled as an assistant teacher for the K-4 class at Wayne Christian School, because she was serving God and working with children at the same time. She also taught the 3-5 year old Sunday School class and the 3-5 year old children's church at Free Gospel PFWB Church.

Janice was known by her friends and family as a woman of great faith and unwavering commitment to Christ and her family in all that she did, even in the midst of extreme physical difficulty.

Born December 6, 1963, Janice lived all her life in Wayne and Greene counties. She graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in 1981 and attended Wayne Community College. She worked in various career positions before fulfilling her love at Wayne Christian School.

Janice is survived by her husband, Anthony Wade "Tony" Barrow; a daughter, Courtney Nicole Barrow; a son, Eric Anthony Barrow; mother, Mary Lou Fail Simmons and husband, Jeff, of Concord; father, Hubert Densel Jones of Snow Hill; grandmother, Essie Corbitt Jones of Snow Hill; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wade and Lou Ellen Barrow of Snow Hill; brother-in-law, Mike Barrow and wife, Sharon, of Pikeville; sister-in-law, Sonya Barrow Whitehead and husband, Chris, of Mebane; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her children at school and church.

Janice will be remembered most for her faithfulness to God, her husband, her children and the many other children that she had the opportunity to teach. Janice's life was truly a reflection of the character of Christ, and her memory and life example will forever live in the hearts and minds of those who knew her.

Funeral services celebrating Janice will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15, at Free Gospel PFWB Church, 145 Free Gospel Road, Snow Hill. The Reverend Gerald Hollamon and the Reverend Willard Hardison will officiate. Interment will follow at the Snow Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday (today) from 6 until 9 p.m. at Free Gospel PFWB Church, and other times at the residence, 245 Hart Road, Snow Hill.

Arrangements are entrusted to Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service of Snow Hill.
