ALBERTSON -- James Elwood "Ray" Ham, 45, of 395 Woodland Church Road, died Tuesday.

The funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Garner Funeral Home with Major Jack Chastain officiating. Burial will be in the Ham Family Cemetery in Pink Hill.

Mr. Ham was a self-employed painter and attended the Salvation Army Church in Kinston.

He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Elwood Ham, and is survived by his mother, Mahala Heath Ham of Kinston; one daughter, Sabrina Ham of La Grange; two sons, James Ray Ham of Kinston and Johnny Ray Ham of Loris, S.C.; three sisters, Pricilla Cash and Rose Wilkins of Kinston and Terry Peralta of the home; two brothers, Carlton J. Ham of Gaston and Michael Eric Ham of Pink Hill; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends this evening from 7 until 9 at the funeral home, and other times at the residence.
