Roy Talbert Strickland, Sr., 82, of 1907 N. Berkeley Blvd., died Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Strickland was born in Johnston County on December 30, 1923, to the late Leonard Muns "Jack" Strickland and Mamie Windham Strickland. He had worked with the United States Postal Service for 33 years in several positions and retired as a rural mail carrier. Mr. Strickland was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Hunter Preston and the Rev. Martin Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Mr. Strickland is survived by his wife, Zula "Ducky" Dickens Strickland; his daughters, Bonnie S. Dawson and husband, Dudley, of Chatham, Va., Beth S. Littleton and husband, Carl of Goldsboro and Becky S. Harris and husband, Jeff, of Goldsboro; his son, Roy T. Strickland, Jr. of Goldsboro; his sisters, Christine Parrish of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Margaret Tucker of Selma; his grandchildren, Deanna Mercer, John Talbert Smith, Melissa Sugg, Kenni Nicole Hilburn, Cammi Jones, Jason Talbert Strickland and Justin Talbert Strickland and his great grandchildren, Alexis Wise, Morgan Wise, Carter Mercer, Kimberlin Jones and Jada Strickland.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Strickland.

The family will receive friends this evening from 7 until 9 at Seymour Funeral Home, and at other times at the residence.

Although flowers are welcome, memorial donations may be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation, 1821 University Avenue W., Ste. 8256, Saint Paul, Minn., 55104.
