Albert Jay Young Sr., 86, died Tuesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Gary Bailey and Barry Williamson officiating. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Mr. Young was born in Dillon County, S.C., to the late John and Nora Young. He had worked as a machinist for Borden Manufacturing Co. and was a member of Pineview Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal and the Purple Heart.

He is survived by his wife, Eutha Gray Price Young; two sons and daughters-in-law, Albert Jr. and Mary Jo Young of Goldsboro and John F. and Cathy Young of West Memphis, Ark; one daughter and son-in-law, Glenda T. and Thomas Tyndall of Goldsboro; one sister, Hazel Sessoms of Wilmington; son-in-law, Linwood Benton of Princeton; and 13 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Alice Faye Benton.

The family will receive friends at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home following the service on Wednesday evening, and other times at the residence.
