Died Aug. 5, 2006

Johnnie Louise Leonard of 101 Pacific Drive, Dudley, died Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held Thursday at noon at Payne Temple A.M.E. Zion Church with the Rev. Preston Grimes officiating. A memorial service will be held Thursday evening at 7 at the C.D. McNeil Memorial Church of God in Christ Church, 1200 E. Bright St., Kinston.

Ms. Leonard was a native of Dudley and a graduate of Southern Wayne High School. She attended Wayne and Johnston community colleges and was employed for more than 20 years as a nursing assistant at Britthaven Nursing Home. She was a member of the C.D. McNeil Memorial Church of God in Christ in Kinston, where she served as choir director, Sunday school teacher and finance director. She was a former member of Hills Chapel Church of God in Christ in Mount Olive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Seaberry and Doretha Morris Leonard

Her survivors include two daughters, Kimyata Bryant of Raleigh and Alazette Davis of Dudley; four sisters, Joyce Leonard of Mount Olive, Sarah Richardson of Misawa, Japan, Pauline Leonard of Mount Olive and JoAnn Player of Dudley; eight brothers, James Leonard of Goldsboro, Wesley Leonard and Bobby Seaberry of Mount Olive, John Leonard of Deep Run, Kenneth Leonard and Billy Seaberry of Goldsboro, Charles Leonard of Fort Campbell, K.Y., and Terry Leonard of Spartansburg.

The family requests no flowers, and that donations in Ms. Leonard's memory be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Visiting hours will be from 2 until 6 p.m. on Wednesday at McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries, 401 S. Center St., Mount Olive.
