PIKEVILLE -- Ersel Lee Evans, 86, of 108 Canary Lane, died today at Suttons Retirement Center.
Mr. Evans was born in Johnston County to the late Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Evans and was the widower of Lula Ingram Evans. He retired as a prison guard with the City of Newport News in Virginia.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mike Grady officiating. Interment will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
Mr. Evans is survived by one son, Bobby L. Evans, and his wife, Ann, of Pikeville; his grandson, David Lee Evans of Beaver Dam, Va.; and his sister, Ozel Radford of Pikeville.
The family will receive friends at Seymour Funeral Home following the service on Wednesday, and other times at the home of Bobby and Ann Evans, 102 Mallard Place, in the Summerdale Subdivision near Pikeville.
