FREMONT -- Rebecca Duke Daniel, 84, of East Wayne Street, died Monday at Wilson Medical Center in Wilson.
A graveside service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont. Pastor H. Powell Dew Jr. will officiate.
Mrs. Daniel was born in Wayne County to the late Oscar Duke and Irene Wade Duke. She was a lifelong member of Fremont Missionary Baptist Church and was employed as a secretary at the North Carolina Employment Security Commission in the 1940s.
She is survived by two daughters, Sarah Daniel of Chapel Hill and Susan Daniel Lowder and her husband, David, of Bedford, Texas; two brothers, John Duke and his wife, Angela, of Cary and Benjamin Duke of Ocean Isle; two sisters, Anna Parker and her husband, Roy, of Goldsboro and Dorothy Willis of Laurens, S.C.; two grandchildren, Rebecca Lowder and Daniel Lowder; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Daniel was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, William Roscoe Daniel.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 3 until 4:30 p.m. at Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont.
