SHIRLEY M. WILLIAMS

April 15, 1923-June 22, 2006

SNOW HILL -- Shirley Midyette Williams, 83, of Snow Hill, and formerly of the Swan Quarter community of Hyde County, died Thursday at her home following a courageous battle with cancer.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Snow Hill, where she was an active member, with Harold Church officiating.

Mrs. Williams was born in Hyde County to Carroll and Bettie Midyette and was the widow of David Otis Williams. She was a retired seamstress and a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Georgia Phillips of the home and Debra Shirey of Snow Hill; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, c/o Andrew Foster, 1253 Fourway Road, Snow Hill, N.C., 28580; or to University Health Systems Hospice Care, P.O. Box 30945, Greenville, N.C., 27833.
