RICHLANDS -- Larry Bryant Jones, 91, died Friday at his home.
The funeral was held today at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Richlands, with the Rev. Dr. Donald Christian and the Rev. Norman Aycock officiating. Burial was in Onslow Memorial Park in Jacksonville.
Mr. Jones retired as an auditor with First Citizens Bank. He served three terms as mayor of Richlands and also served on the town board. He was a member of the Ruritan Club and Woodman of the World and was named Senior Citizen of the Year by the Richlands Chamber of Commerce.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nannie Ruth Metts Jones and is survived by one daughter, Cynthia Jones Cox; one son, Gareth Jones of Goldsboro; and eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or the American Cancer Society.
