FREMONT -- The funeral for Sarah Jeffreys Wiggs, 82, will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Fremont Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. H. Powell Dew Jr. will officiate. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Wiggs died Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
A Wayne County native, she was the daughter of Zeb Jeffreys and Evan Lanier Jeffreys and the widow of Marvin Wiggs. She retired from BB&T with 34 years of service and was a member of Fremont Missionary Baptist Church and the Fremont Historical Society.
She is survived by one daughter, Jenny Wiggs Morris, and her husband, Allen R. Morris, of Winterville; two grandchildren, Allan Jeffreys Morris, and his wife, Sarah Morris, of Newport, N.C., and Sarah Beth Morris of Winterville; and two great-grandchildren, Blythe Elizabeth Morris and Braxton James Morris of Newport, N.C.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8:30 at Shackleford-Funeral Home, and other times at the residence at 130 Dogwood Lane, Fremont.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Fremont Missionary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 906, Fremont, N.C., 27830.
