ADOLPH KORNEGAY

CALYPSO -- Adolph Kornegay, 81, died Thursday.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Hazel Waters Kornegay; three sons, Jimmy Kornegay of Edgewater, Maryland, Billy Kornegay and fiancée Marcia Gorrell of Raleigh, and Michael Kornegay and wife Tammy of Fuquay-Varina; a daughter, Deborah K. Kornegay and husband Dr. Hervy Kornegay Sr. of Calypso; nine grandsons, Jimmy Walther and wife Allison of Gaithersburg, Maryland, Tucker Walther of Gahanna, Ohio, Dr. Chad Kornegay and wife Kelly, Dr. Todd Kornegay and fiancée Jennifer Russell, Jon Kornegay, Brad Kornegay, and Paul Kornegay, all of Greenville, N.C., Brian Kornegay of Clayton, and Justin Kornegay of Canton, N.C.; two great-grandchildren, J R Walther and Van Walther of Gaithersburg, Maryland; a brother, Craig Kornegay and wife Elizabeth of Albertson; three step-grandchildren, Lynn Herring and husband Rick of Calypso, Carolyn Kornegay and husband Dr. Michael Ponder of Johnson City, Tennessee, and Dr. Hervy B. Kornegay Jr. and wife Vicki of Goldsboro; and eight step-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Kornegay was preceded in death by his parents, Duff and Louise Holmes Kornegay of Albertson; a twin brother, Randolph Kornegay; and an infant son.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 19, 2006, at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive. Dr. H. Dennis Draper Jr. and the Rev. Chris Currie will officiate. The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home following the service, and at other times they will be at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Hervy Kornegay Sr., 141 Edwina Kornegay Road, Calypso, N.C. The graveside committal service will be Saturday, May 20, 2006, at 11 a.m. in the Calypso Cemetery.
