DONALD SKELLY SR.

Donald Joseph Skelly Sr., 77, of 100 Stonegate Court, Goldsboro, formerly of Chesapeake, Va., died Friday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Skelly was born in Gallitzin, Pa., to the late Elwood Skelly and Ada McCullen Skelly. He served his country in the United States Navy and retired in 1976. After retirement, Mr. Skelly worked as a city bus driver in Hampton Roads, Virginia He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

The funeral was held Sunday at 4 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with Jimmy Mercer, Steve King and Rev. Zachariah Harris, Jr. presiding. Burial, with full military honors, was today at 11 at East Duplin Memorial Gardens in Beulaville.

Mr. Skelly was a caring and loving husband to Ellen Mercer Skelly, who survives.

He is also survived by his son, Don Skelly Jr., and daughters, Carol Brinkley, Debra Howell, Donna Seidel, Allison McCullough, Lorraine Flynn and Heather Suarez; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; on brother, Melvin Skelley and wife Kathryn; on sister, Shirley Blissman, and her husband, Thom; and three nieces, Patricia Rouse, Karen Kennedy, and Meresa Mercer; and a special sister-in-law, Nell Kennedy.

He was preceded in death by another sister, Carol Lazorchak.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, (Shepherds Reach Fund), 532 Country Day Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530; or to the American Stoke Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas, 75231-4596

The family will receive friends at the residence.
