RACHEL P. SMITH

Rachel Padgett Smith, 84, died Sunday at Riverside Hospital in Tappahannock, Virginia.
Mrs. Smith was born in Wayne County and was the daughter of the late James and Alice Lane Padgett. She was retired from Belk's department store.
She is survived by her daughter, Bettie A. Stephens of Alexandria, Va.; one son, James R. Aycock, and his wife, Cindy, of St. Stephens Church, Va.; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held by the graveside on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive. The Rev. Bill Rose will conduct the service and the family will receive friends afterward.
Arrangements are with Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
