IDA VIRGINIA KORNEGAY

Died April 20, 2006

NEWTON GROVE -- Ida Virginia Kornegay, 84, of 243 Kornegay Town Road, died Thursday at Mary Gran Nursing Center in Clinton. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m. at the White Oak Disciples of Christ Church, with Bishop Charles J. Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Kornegay Family Cemetery.

Ms. Kornegay was the daughter of the late Milton and Isabella Grantham Artis. She was a member of White Oak Disciple Church, where she served on the Mother Board, with the Senior Choir, as CYF Adviser and with other auxiliaries.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, William Kornegay, of the home; daughter, Daisy Royal of Clinton; brother, William P. Artis of Detroit, Mich.; sisters, Layuria Williams of Four Oaks and Lilia Bell Ward of Mount Olive; special nephew, James Carlton, of the home; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Viewing was held Saturday at Garris Funeral Home Chapel and White Oak Disciples of Christ.
