BILLY RAY SIMMS

GREENVILLE -- Billy Ray Simms died Thursday at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
A Wayne County native, Mr. Simms was the son of Pauline Simms of Mount Olive and the late Pearcy Simms of Pikeville.
He is survived by his wife, Laverne Simms, of the home; sons, Christopher Simms of Jacksonville, Fla., Cameron Bryant of Goldsboro, Billy Simms Jr. of Nightdale; daughters, Miesha Braswell of Dudley and Shawn Peacock of Nightdale; brother, Gerald Wilder of Oxon Hill, Md.; and sister, Delores Awegichew of Forrest Hill, Md.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Hooks Grove Baptist Church in Pikeville. The Rev. Johnny Sherrod and pastor Tedro Reid will officiate. Burial will be in Hooks Grove Cemetery.
A visitation will be held Monday at Hooks Grove Baptist Church from 6 to 8 p.m.
