LEON NEWCOMB

Leon Earl Newcomb, 68, of Ridge Drive, died Tuesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
The funeral will be held on tonight at 7 in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. Rev. Jimmy Earp will officiate. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
Mr. Newcomb was a Johnston County native and was the son of Ruth I. Newcomb, a resident of the Brian Center, and the late Joseph Newcomb. He retired from O'Berry Center as a health care technician and served in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Specialist 4 (SP4, E4).
In addition to his mother, Mr. Newcomb is survived by two daughters, Delaine Tucker, and her husband, Joe, of Goldsboro and Wanda Tyndall and her husband, Terry, of Goldsboro; one stepdaughter, Tiffany Farr, and her husband, Jason, of Robinsville, N.C.; one stepson, Ben Smith, and his wife, Dana, of Mount Olive; one brother, Wayne Newcomb, and his wife, Betsy, of Seven Springs; two sisters, Louise Jinnette, and her husband, Henry, of Goldsboro and Mary Toler and her husband, Melvin, of Goldsboro; and three grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Smith Newcomb, and one brother, J. W. Newcomb.
The family will receive friends at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory following the service on this evening, and other times at the home of Louise Jinnette, 512 North Jackson St..
