RALEIGH -- Effie Monk, 87, formerly of Kenansville, died at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh on Thursday.
Funeral services will be held at the Rose Hill Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. William T. Newkirk. Burial will follow in the Farrior Family Cemetery in Kenansville.
She is survived by sons Eranda Miller of Prince George, Va., Eugene Miller of Baltimore, Md., Jack Miller Jr. of Raleigh; daughters Hattie Williams of Deer Park, N.Y. and Martha Johnson of Raleigh; step daughter Edith Ingram of Mount Olive; brother Thomas Monk Sr.; sister Martha Davis Monk; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; and sisters-in-law Alberta Monk Miller and Vina Outlaw of Kenansville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Miller, Sr. and daughter Mae James.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday morning prior to service.
The family is being served by Rose Hill Funeral Home.
