LAWRENCE BOYERS

Sept. 5, 1936-April 8, 2006

Lawrence Lee Boyers, 69, died Saturday, April 8, 2006.

He was born September 5, 1936, in Benton Harbor, Michigan. He was a dedicated, loving and caring husband, father and grandfather and son of the late Helen Huffman Boyers and Bruce Medford Boyers of Goldsboro, North Carolina.

Mr. Boyers was a retired Senior Subrogation Advisor with Virginia Farm Bureau and State Claims Manager with USF&G.

Prior to his career in insurance, he served as a District Executive with the National Boy Scouts of America. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow and was an avid supporter of Scouting. He was a graduate of Oglethorpe University and LaSalle University. He was an Elder of St. Giles Presbyterian Church and former elder of Laurel Presbyterian Church and an active choir member.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Darlene Warrick Boyers of Richmond, Va.; two daughters, Adare Boyers, Carol Boyers Givens and husband Thomas Givens and two grandchildren Graham and Anna Givens, all of Richmond, Va.; brother, Robert Boyers and wife Linda Boyers of Eugene, Oregon; and two nephews of California.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at 4 p.m. at St. Giles Presbyterian Church, 5200 Grove Ave., Richmond, Va.
