FREMONT -- Annie Lois Medlin Griffin, 81, of Vance Street died Thursday at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont. The Rev. Jerry Evans and Pastor Powell H. Dew Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Griffin was born in Nash County on Nov. 19, 1924, to the late Walter Lee Medlin and Lillie Currin Medlin. She was an active member of Fremont Free Will Baptist Church.

She is survived by three sons, Warren "Babe" Griffin and his wife, Brenda, of Fremont, Walter "Frog" Ray Griffin of Fremont, and Harry Griffin and his wife, Jean, of Hendersonville, Tenn.; three sisters, Evelyn Harrell of Raleigh, Nellie Stallings of Knightdale and Alice Denton of Boone; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Griffin was preceded in death by her husband, Warren H. Griffin; two daughters, Anna Rose Speight and Glenda Taylor; and two sisters, Lillie Adams and Edith Bostick.

The family received friends on Saturday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son, Warren "Babe" Griffin, 301 Hooks Drive in Fremont.

Although flowers are welcome, memorial contributions may be directed to Fremont Free Will Baptist Church, 106 W. South St., Fremont, NC 27830.
