C.D. Grice, 79, of 1191 Tommy's Road, died Saturday at Britthaven Nursing Home. Born in Johnston County, he was the son of the late Talton and Lou Miza Batten Grice. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Perry Grice, Arthur Grice, Daniel Grice, Bill Grice and John Grice; and his sisters, Cassie Radford, Mary Batten and Daisy Weaver. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. For many years, he worked at Borden Manufacturing Co., and he retired from Southco Distributing Co.

Funeral services will be Sunday evening at 7 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with Rev. Jerry Mitchell officiating. Graveside services will be Monday morning at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery.

Mr. Grice is survived by his wife of 59 years, Blanche Massey Grice; three daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Tom Cushing, Becky and Sherwin Herring and Dianne and Floyd Blake, all of Goldsboro; three grandchildren, April Herring, Kevin Herring and Jennifer Parker and her husband, Chris; three great-grandchildren, Caroline Parker, Daniel Parker and Austin Parker.

Family members will greet friends and family immediately following the service on Sunday evening at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and at other times at the home, 1191 Tommy's Road, Goldsboro.
