Died March 26, 2006

WARSAW -- A memorial service for Mary Pigford Vernon, 75, will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Warsaw Presbyterian Church. A private burial will be held at a later time.

Mrs. Vernon died Sunday at her residence at 406 E. Walnut Street in Warsaw.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph Vernon of the home; one son, Melvin Ralph Vernon; daughters, Jennifer V. Whitfield, and her husband, B.R. Whitfield Jr., Mary Lee V. McKay; and Debra V. Pergerson, and her husband, Mitch; three brothers, Thomas Pigford, Douglas H. Pigford and Edward F. Pigford; sisters, Adele P. Baker, and her husband, Rodney, and Virginia P. Yde and her husband, Floyd; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Hilda Miller.

Mrs. Vernon was preceded in death by her parents, Helen Adams and Elias Faison Hicks Pigford; and a brother, Elias A. Pigford.

Flowers are acceptable, or memorial donations may be made to Advantage Hospice & Home Care, 102 N. Main St., P.O. Box 305, Kenansville, N.C., 27349; or to the charity of the donor's choice.

The family will receive friends at the church at 3 p.m., prior to the service on Thursday.

Community Funeral Home is serving the family.
