WALDORF, Md. -- Eric W. Shaffer, 24, died Friday in LaPlata, Md.
He was married to the former Amanda Meier, daughter of Andy and Sue Meier of LaGrange, N.C., and was the son of Joel and Ruth Shockey Shaffer of Friedens.
A native of Somerset, he graduated from Somerset High School in 2000 and from Penn State in 2004.
He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ and the funeral will be held there at 2 p.m. on Thursday. The Rev. Matthew Deal will officiate. Interment will be in Edie Cemetery.
In addition to his mother, father and his wife and her parents, he is survived by one brother, Jeremy Shaffer of Berlin; his grandparents, Donald and Ruth Shaffer of Somerset and Kenneth and Ruth Shockey of Friedens.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2 until 4 p.m. and 7 until 9 p.m. at Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home and at the church during the hour prior to the funeral on Thursday.
