MYRTLE B. HODGES

Feb. 23, 1933-March 15, 2006

Myrtle Bailey Hodges, 73, a resident of 8824 US Hwy. 17 North, Washington, N.C., died Wednesday morning at Beaufort County Hospital.

A funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Old Ford Church of Christ, officiated by Eddie Bowen. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.

Shelton Rogerson, Robert Leggett, Churchill Hodges, Joey Hester, Dorman Drake and Ed Davis will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Hodges was born in Martin County on February 23, 1933, daughter of the late James Staton Bailey and Alma Whitehurst Bailey. On December 31, 1959, she married James Latham Hodges Sr. who survives. She was a member of Old Ford Church of Christ for 46 years and was a homemaker.

In addition to her husband, James, of the home, she is survived by her son: James L. Hodges Jr. of Washington, and her daughter, Deborah Lowery, and her husband, Bobby, of Goldsboro; two grandchildren, Ryan and Kathryn Lowery of Goldsboro; two sisters: Jean Rogerson and Jeanette Bailey and her husband, Billy, all of Bear Grass; and two brothers, Earl Bailey and his wife, Judy, and Wayne Bailey, all of Bear Grass.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Faye Gurganus.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8:30 at Old Ford Church of Christ, and other times at the home.

Paul Funeral Home of Washington is serving the Hodges Family.
