ADELAIDE CRUMPLER
March 9, 1923-March 7, 2006
Adelaide Stiglitz Crumpler, 82, passed away at her home on Tuesday, March 7, 2006.
She was born in Plainfield, N.J., on March 9, 1923, to the late Andrew and Irene Stiglitz. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Dr. Warren H. Crumpler; two sisters Patricia Robertson and Elizabeth Teller, and a brother, Andrew Stiglitz.
She is survived by eight children, Patricia Miller of Mount Olive, N.C., Warren Crumpler of Roseville, Minn., Wendy Crumpler and husband Barry Haynes of Gibson, Canada, Robin Game of Mount Olive, N.C., Robert Crumpler of Durham, N.C., Cheryl Crumpler of Princeton, N.C., Andrea Sloan and husband Ronnie Sloan of Mount Olive, N.C., and Leonard Crumpler of Emerald Isle, N.C.; 16 grandchildren, Jonathan Miller of Mount Olive, N.C., Brad Miller and wife Shelly of Charlottesville, Va., Aaron Miller of Wilmington, N.C., Eric Miller of Mount Olive, N.C., Allison Cooper and husband Ryan of Elizabeth City, N.C., Meredith O'Neal and husband James of Jacksonville, N.C., Randy Crumpler and wife Jill of Roseville, Minn., Alicia Crumpler of Roseville, Minn., Heidi Crumpler of Roseville, Minn., Maxwell Crumpler-Haynes of Gibson, Canada, Robin Michelle Game of Wilmington, N.C., Virginia Crumpler and R.J. Crumpler of Durham, N.C., Gray Sloan of Mount Olive, N.C., Michael Crumpler of Mount Olive, N.C., and Matthew Crumpler of Asheville, N.C.; three great-grandchildren, Emily Crumpler of Roseville, Minn., Christian Miller of Charlottesville, Va., and Brennan Cooper of Elizabeth City, N.C.; and a very special nephew, Russell Teller, his wife, Donna, and their family of Plainfield, N.J.
"Stig" as she was well known by, graduated from Plainfield High, N.J., in 1940. She attended Madison College in Harrisonburg, Va.., and received a bachelor of science and a graduate degree in nursing from Duke University in 1945. She was working as head nurse in the delivery room at Duke Hospital when she met her husband. They married on December 25, 1949.
Mrs. Crumpler was a member of the Mount Olive Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir for 47 years. She was the first Woman Deacon elected in the church and in the Wilmington Presbytery.
We, the family members, wish to express our gratitude to all the friends who have continued to visit, send cards, food and prayers during her illness. Special thanks to Mary B. Williams, whose love and help for many years are appreciated beyond words. We would also like to thank everyone at Community Home Care and Hospice for their service.
Friends and family are welcome at the Crumpler home at 304 North Johnson Street in Mount Olive.
Per her request there will be no other services.

She was a great Mama and Grannie. She was a faithful friend and gentle spirit to all she met. Words can not express how much we will miss her.

Don't grieve for me for now I am free. I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call; I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day, to laugh, to love, to work, to play. Tasks left undone will stay that way. I found that peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, ah yes, these things I, too, will miss.
But not burdened with the times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life has been full, I've savored much. Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief; don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and share with me, God wanted me now, He set me free. (Dicksons)
