THURMAN PIKE

June 13, 1918 - March 2, 2006

MOUNT OLIVE -- Thurman Olan Pike Sr., 87, of 120 Woodridge Circle, died Thursday at his home.

A graveside funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive. The Rev. Clarke Barfield will officiate.

The family will receive friends today from 5 until 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the residence.

Mr. Pike was the son of the late Ira Sankie and Patience Elizabeth Thompson Pike. He was retired from the N.C. Employment Security Commission as a manpower representative. He was a long-time member of Masonic Lodge 340 in Pikeville, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mount Olive, and its Peanut Crew.

He is survived by three daughters, Patricia Ann King and Martha Elaine Bryant, both of Wilmington, and Janet Lynn Pike of Goldsboro; two sons, Thurman Olan Pike Jr. of Raleigh, and George Stanley Pike of Goldsboro; four grandchildren, Anthony Scott Riggan of Raleigh, Jennifer Ann Hill of Charlotte, Patience Elizabeth Harris of Garner, and Glenwood Lee Davis II of Columbia. She is also survived by her two sons, Rudy Blalock and Victor Blalock.

He was preceded in death by a dear friend, Elizabeth Blalock.

In lieu of flowers, it was Mr. Pike's request that memorial gifts be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 420, Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.
