MARIE SNYPES

Marie Davis Snypes, 82, died Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be held by the graveside on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Willow Dale Cemetery. The Rev. Douglas Johnson and the Rev. Virgil "Butch" Huffman will officiate.
A Wayne County native, Mrs. Snypes was the daughter of the late John William and Mabel Dickerson Davis and the widow of the Rev. James Grayson Snypes. She graduated from Goldsboro High School and the Woman's College of Greensboro, which is now the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She was a member of Jefferson United Methodist Church. In addition to ministering with her husband at 15 United Methodist Churches, she was employed with several businesses and ended her career as a secretary at Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Carolyn S. Johnson of Houston, Texas, and Toni S. and Harold Cardwell of Goldsboro; two grandchildren, James Jackson and wife, Carmen of Houston, Texas, Kelly Reed of Wilmington; and three great-grandchildren, Karilyn Marie Jackson of Houston, Texas, and Jacob Reed of Wilmington.
The family will greet friends today from 6:30 until 8 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and other times at the home of Toni Cardwell, 3103 Cashwell Drive, Unit 107, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
