PIKEVILLE -- Juanita Davis Russell, 88, of Pikeville died Sunday at the Sterling House in Goldsboro.

The funeral will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph United Methodist Church in Pikeville. The Rev. Bryan Huffman and the Rev. Mack McMillan will officiate. Interment will be in Pikeville Cemetery.

Mrs. Russell was born in Wayne County to the late Otis Milton Davis and Betty Bass Davis. She was a member and former Sunday school teacher at St. Joseph United Methodist Church in Pikeville. She retired from the State of North Carolina as a teacher in the Wayne County Public Schools, having taught most recently at Brogden Junior High School.

She is survived by one daughter, Margaret Wannemacher and her husband, Ted, of Hickory; two sons, Robert "Bob" Russell of Springfield, Oregon, and David Russell and his wife, Kaye, of Durham; two sisters, Edith Davis Stuart of Charlotte and Pam Davis Rittenhouse of Chicago, Ill.; and nine grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Russell, and one sister, Hattie Davis Breeze.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont.

The family is being served by Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont.
