Berlie Harper

Berlie R Harper 73, of Charlie Braswell Road, Goldsboro, and a proud West Virginia native, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 6, 2006.

He achieved the rank of SMSGT in the US Air Force after 28 years of service including a tour of duty in Vietnam. Following his retirement from the Air Force, Berlie spent sixteen years working at Cherry Hospital before retiring.

Berlie had a personal faith in Christ which he enjoyed sharing with others and was an active member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church.

He shaped the lives of many as a youth baseball coach in Wayne County and his passion for sports was evident in his love for WVU football.

Born to the late Ward and Lora Harper, Berlie was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters and a son, Ronnie Adams. He is survived by his devoted wife Helen Worley Harper of Goldsboro; two sons, Kyle R. Harper and wife Kim of Greenville and Grant Adams and wife Cindy of LaGrange; three grandsons and two honorary granddaughters, Dustin Adams and Morgan Adams of Raleigh, Alex Harper of Greenville, and Jessica and Amber Flood of Goldsboro; and one sister, Bess Setser of Madison, W.Va.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Parrish Funeral Home in Princeton, with visitation to follow immediately. A graveside service will be conducted on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
