FAISON -- Laura Jane Matthews Jackson Jones, 93, of 210 Mary and Elias Street in Faison, died Thursday at Lenoir Memorial Hospital in Kinston.

A service will be held today at 2 pm from the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive. The Rev. Paul Rose will officiate. Burial will follow in the Faison Cemetery.

Among her survivors are three sons, Sam Wells Jackson of the home in Faison, Thomas M. Jackson of Kinston, and Vayden C. Jackson of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a sister, Lucy M. Custer of Fayettevile; a brother, James L. Matthews of Turkey; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Faison Baptist Church and is remembered as being the long-time operator of Laura's Fish Market in Faison. She was the widow of Sam Jones, daughter of the late Wells V. and Susan Carr Matthews, and was preceded in death by seven of her brothers.

A visitation was held Saturday evening at Tyndall Funeral Home.
