FAISON -- Kara Alexis Goodman, 14, of 681 Emmett Jackson Road, died Sunday at Duke Medical Center.
She was a student at North Duplin Junior/Senior High School and was a member of the North Duplin Band. She was also a Girl Scout.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home with the Rev. Chad Pullins officiating. Private interment will be on Thursday at Rooty Branch Church Cemetery at Summerlin's Crossroads
She is survived by her parents, Jerry and Genetta B. Goodman of the home; a sister, Natalie Goodman of the home; her maternal grandparents, Gene and Brunetta Bradshaw of Faison, and her paternal grandparents, Milton and Betty Goodman of Mount Olive.
The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home on Wednesday night, and at other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, the North Duplin School Band, or Duke Children's Hospital.
