Hilda Jean Dodd, 73, of Smithfield Manor, died Sunday at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
She was employed for many years at The News and Observer and worked for seven years as a typesetter at the Smithfield Herald.
She is survived by one daughter, Kathy Evans of Georgia; a sister, Fannie Lee Dickerson of Wilson; a brother, Wallace Thorne of Goldsboro; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Kenly Cemetery, The Rev. Lynn Renfrow will conduct the service.
