Died Jan. 10, 2006

WILMINGTON -- Grace Starkey Plott Worley, 87, died Tuesday, Jan. 10.

She was born in Wilmington on Feb. 20, 1918, and was the daughter of the late Joseph Edward Starkey and Esther Klein Starkey.

Remembered are her husbands, who preceded her in death, Irving B. Plott and Cyrus Edward Worley; and her brother, Joseph Edward Starkey Jr.

Grace was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, where she served in many areas of the church ministry. She served the New Hanover County Board of Education for 41 years in the Payroll and Accounting Department. "Miss Gracie" was a true "Southern Lady" and was loved by her family, neighbors, and friends.

She is survived by her stepdaughter, Virginia Worley Temple (Earl) of Dudley; step grandchildren, Frank W. Brown, Paul Worley Brown, and Jean Jenson; sister-in-law, Catherine Sistrunk of Wilmington; cousins, Nancy Baker of New Jersey, George Baker of Maine, Forrest Brown of Mebane, and E.O. (Tommy) Brown of Hawaii.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be from 7 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Andrews Mortuary, Market Street Chapel.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Oakdale Cemetery.
