Arthur M. Smith, 84, of 913 Devereaux St., died Sunday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Goldsboro Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Mr. Smith was a brick mason. He attended Wayne County Public Schools and served in the United States Army for three years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Retha Whitley, and is survived by his wife, Annie Mae Smith of the home; one son, Elder Marshall Smith of Durham; three daughters, Elaine Smith of the home, Jacquelyn McMillian of Richmond, Va., and Sandra Merida of Charlotte; one brother, Walter McNair of Durham; and 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The viewing hours will be from 4 until 7 p.m. on Thursday at Rhodes Funeral Home in Goldsboro.
