EDWARD F. TISKA

PITTSFIELD -- Edward Francis Tiska, 82, of Kewanee, Ill., formerly of Pittsfield, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Kewanee Hospital.

Born in Pittsfield on June 4, 1923, to Joseph and Stella Serowik Tiska, he attended local schools.

He served as a sergeant in the Army Corps of Engineers during World War II, serving in China, Burma and India.

Mr. Tiska had worked at General Electric in Pittsfield and Rome, Ga., and then for Hevi Duty in Goldsboro. He became a supervisor for Machinery and Conveyor, retiring in 1980. He then worked at the Kewanee Boiler, retiring in 1982.

He was a member and a Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council in Rome, Ga. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church and had been a member of Kiwanis Club in Kewanee.

He married the former Jean Hayes on April 7, 1947, in Pittsfield.

Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Joseph Tiska of Greensboro, and Stephen Tiska of Kewanee; three daughters, Patty Tiska of Greensboro, Kathy Hobbs of Atlanta, Ga., and Joanie Kennedy of Raleigh; two brothers, Edmund Tiska of Pittsfield and Clemens Tiska of Stone Ridge, N.Y.; three sisters, Val Mangapit of Pennsylvania, Teresa Quillard of Hinsdale, and Dorothy Wojtkowski of Florida; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
