KINSTON -- Robert Bruce "R. B." Shepard Sr., 80, died Monday.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Howard-Carter Funeral Home. The Rev. Gordon Hart will officiate. Interment will be in Westview Cemetery.
Mr. Shepard was Constable of Sand Hill Township for 10 years and a captain with the Lenoir County Sheriff's Department for 28 years. He was the son of the late Owen and Geneva Shepard.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Agnes Shepard of the home; one daughter, Joy Waters of Kinston; two sons, Hal Shepard of Kinston and Bob Shepard of Seven Springs; one sister, Marie Komosa of Pasadena, Md.; one brother, Owen P. "Buddy" Shepard of Snow Hill; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, Tenn., 38101.
