MERLE McLAMB

SMITHFIELD -- Annie Merle Stewart McLamb, 92, died Monday at her home.

A native of Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Franklin and Nettie Ann Lee Stewart. She and her husband, the late Samuel B. McLamb, owned and operated McLamb's Florist on Third Street in Smithfield for many years.

She was a faithful member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Smithfield, and the funeral will be held there at 2 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rev. Sam Weeks and the Rev. Earl Glenn will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Mrs. McLamb is survived by one son, Dr. Samuel B. McLamb Jr., and his and wife, Yvonne, of Goldsboro; one daughter, Genevieve Taylor, and her husband, Danny, of Snow Hill; one brother, Rupert Stewart of Benson, and eight grandchildren, Dan Taylor, Charles Taylor, Samuel B. McLamb III, Kevin Aycock, Marguerite McLamb, Catherine Brown, Jennifer McLamb and Kelly Shiel; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends today from 6 until 8 p.m. at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma.
