The funeral for Thomas Dawson will be held Friday at 1 p.m.. at Liberty Grove Missionary Baptist Church in LaGrange. Pastor Harold Warren will officiate. Burial will be in St. Matthew's Cemetery.
Mr. Dawson is survived by one son, Thomas Dawson Jr. of New York; five daughters, Betty Sutton of Goldsboro, Mary Best of Maryland, Herley Whitfield of Tacoma, Wash., Julia Smith of Kinston and Lola Becton of Greensboro; one sister, Helen Sutton of Kinston; and 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The viewing hours will be from 2 until 8 today at LaGrange Mortuary.
