LUCY J. ELLIOTT

Lucy Jeffreys Elliott, 71, died Friday at Deerfield Retirement Community in Asheville.
She was born in Wayne County to the late Robert Alexander & Thelma Collins Jeffreys, and was married to the late William Henry Elliott III.
A member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church, she was a graduate of Goldsboro High School, Majorie Webster Junior College in Washington, D.C., and a past director of the American Heart and Cancer Society Branch of United Fund.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the Willowdale Cemetery. The Rev. Gene Carpenter will officiate.
She is survived by two sons, William Henry Elliott IV of Greenville and George Jeffreys Elliott and wife, Gwynne of Goldsboro; one daughter, Thelma Collins Elliott Chalmers and husband, Tim of Raleigh; one brother, George Collins Jeffreys of Goldsboro; two sisters, Barbara Jeffreys Gotherman of Charlotte and Thelma Jeffreys Harrell of Goldsboro; and three grandchildren, Lizzie Elliott, Elliott Chalmers and Miles Chalmers.
The family will be receiving friends Sunday evening from 5 until 6 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home of Goldsboro.
